Nach jedem Projekttreffen haben sich die Schüler selbst mit Hilfe unseres Fragebogens „Meine interkulturelle Kompetenz” bewertet. Dann haben manche auch einen Bericht über ihre Entwicklung mit Erasmus+/eTwinning Projekt geschrieben.
My Intercultural Competence

These last two years have represented an important step in our personal development. With four other European countries, Poland, Germany, Sweden and Hungary, our team has faced different themes such as education, medical care, the environment and the refugee crisis. By taking part in several conferences and workshops, we have acquired a wider knowledge and a deeper understanding of these topics and shared our opinions with our peers from foreign countries producing and posting articles and comments on the platform eTwinning.
In our school we have organized info campaigns as teachers, involving younger classes and sharing with them what we had analysed and discussed during the meetings. They were glad to attend our lessons and participate in the games, acquiring, if not a deeper knowledge at least a global awareness of the themes promoted by the Project.
With Erasmus+ we have reached many goals, for example we have learned to speak in public, which was completely new for us.
It has also taught us to express ourselves while speaking different languages, sharing and confronting ideas. Our language abilities have thus increasingly improved as well as our skills in the use of technology and the media. Last, but not least we have discovered new cultures, customs, and food through the international buffets. It has been a great opportunity for us to make bonds and friendships with our partners, hosting families and international teams.
We do not think that there are real gaps in our personal development because this experience has given us a lot, both linguistically and culturally, even if we are perfectly aware that it is just a beginning and we hope we will be able to put in practice what we have learnt.
For the upcoming meeting in Budapest we wish to work as a successful group and to close this experience in the most productive and interesting way, achieving good results and bringing back home long-lasting memories and awareness.
We hope it will be the same for the next Erasmus+ generations.

In vielen Bereichen behilflich

Frage Nr. 1: Hast du positive Erfahrungen gemacht, die für immer bleiben werden? Hast du etwas gelernt, was dir in deiner zukünftigen Karriere helfen wird?
Der Aufenthalt in den verschiedenen Ländern hat mir nicht nur die verschiedensten Einblicke ermöglicht und meine Sprachverhältnisse verbessert, sondern ebenfalls aktiv zu meinem Informationszuwachs beigetragen, unvergessliche Ereignisse entstehen lassen, welche niemals bei einem “normalen” Austausch entstehen hätten können. Außerdem verlieh das Projekt mir Mut zur Selbstständigkeit, Mut zur Fremdsprachenbenutzung, ermöglichte neue kulturelle Eindrücke, die Kommunikation mit fremden Menschen, von denen man sogar Tips und Tricks für die verschiedensten alltäglichen Aktionen lernen konnte, welche nun einen Einfluss auf mein alltägliches Leben in Deutschland haben. Des Weiteren verhalf es mir Eindrücke zum Umweltschutz zu bekommen, Freundschaften und eine besondere neue Beziehungen zu Gasteltern zu schließen.
Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass mir das Projekt in vielen Bereichen geholfen hat.

Mein Interesse für andere Kulturen

Habt ihr mit unserem Erasmus+ Projekt etwas Schönes erlebt, was für immer bleibt?
- Ja, denn während der drei Projekttreffen, an denen ich teilgenommen habe, habe ich andere Kulturen, anderes Essen, andere Sprachen und vor allem neue Menschen kennengelernt und diese Erfahrungen werde ich nicht so schnell wieder vergessen.
Habt ihr etwas Neues gelernt, was in eurem späteren Berufsleben sicher geträumte Früchte bringt?
- Vor allem habe ich etwas über den Umgang mit anderen Menschen gelernt. Auf neue Leute zuzugehen, wenn man auf viele andere Sprachen und Kulturen trifft, ist in vielen Bereichen des Berufslebens von großer Bedeutung.
Was hat euch das Projekt „Denke global!“ mitgebracht?
- Das Projekt hat mein Selbstbewusstsein, was meinen vorerst unsicheren Umgang mit fremden Menschen angeht, sowie mein Interesse für internationale Begegnungen und andere Sprachen und Kulturen noch mehr gesteigert.

My Erasmus+ Experience

I have spent one week in Poland with the Erasmus+ group. I was very excited and I looked forward to travel there. It was a great –if not the best- experience for me as an exchange student. It was an awesome week from the very beginning to the last minute as I left with the train back home. I can honestly say that my language skills in German and also in English have developed and as the week passed I became more self-confident and more extrovert towards people from another countries. I have met many awesome people and it made me more interested in international connections, culture and languages. I also have experienced how to handle with presentations in front of a big audience, which also contributes to my accomplishments in the future.

Our intercultural development

The questionnaires have shown that every student has actively used TwinSpace to publish articles or comments on others, highlighting their point of view on international issues. We managed to put original ideas into practice by writing articles, organizing games and lessons and we became more aware of prejudices within the international group, but we overcame them working together.
During the meeting in Assisi our Erasmus plus group had the possibility to communicate with students and teachers in English or German, managing to establish a good relationship.
Furthermore, we were able to understand the cultural differences that characterize us by working in international groups, but we overcame them creating a special bond. This project has been fundamental to increase our knowledge about European realities and problems, increasing our interest in events and changes in the world.
At the end of every meeting we have organised different info campaigns that have allowed us to get closer to the topics developed during each mobility. We were divided in groups, each of them dealt with a particular section and we have learned how to cooperate together.
From the questionnaires it's resulted that all the work has been distributed equally: in fact students have not only written articles and have participated in eTwinning discussions but some have also taken photos and videos for the presentations, others have organized lessons in German, English, mother tongue language and games to transmit the ideas learned at the meetings.
We all developed and improved language skills through these meetings, and we also hope to keep operating on international levels.
Cooperation with the international partners

Es war sehr bereichert

Wir sind heute offener und selbstbewusster, um neue Möglichkeiten in Anspruch zu nehmen und neue Menschen kennen zu lernen. Dieses Projekt hat uns über andere Kulturen informiert und wir konnten andere über unsere eigene Kultur informieren. Unser Thema in Italien z.B. war die Flüchtlingskrise in Europa und dort haben wir Flüchtlinge kennengelernt und dadurch ein größeres Verständnis für ihre Situation bekommen.
Dank des Projekts haben wir die Möglichkeit erhalten, die Kulturen der anderen Teilnehmerländer kennen zu lernen.
Die Projekttreffen machten viel Arbeit. Vorträge, Workshops, TwinSpace und Gruppenarbeiten waren ein großer Teil unseres Alltages. Trotz der vielen Arbeit am Projekt haben wir sehr viel gelernt und sind besser geworden, Probleme zu lösen
Ohne dieses Projekt hätten wir dieses Wissen, Verstehen und Fähigkeiten nicht bekommen. Wir haben Erfahrungen in Teamarbeit gemacht und wir sind jetzt noch mehr motiviert auch in neuen Projekten zusammenzuarbeiten.

Wir möchten jetzt das Projekt Erasmus+ abschlieβen. Die letzten zwei Jahre haben wir viel über andere Menschen, andere Kulturen und aktuelle Ereignisse gelernt. Wir können jetzt mit Menschen aus anderen Kulturen kommunizieren und uns gut in ein neues internationales Team einfügen.
Unsere Meinung zum Projekt ist sehr positiv, auch wenn man viel Zeit außerhalb der Schularbeit dafür aufwenden musste. Es war jedoch sehr bereichert in unserem Projekt zu arbeiten und wir können uns gut vorstellen in anderen internationalen Projekten aktiv zu sein.

Fazit zu unserer Projektarbeit hinsichtlich der Entwicklung interkultureller Kompetenzen

Die Auswertung unserer Fragebögen hat ergeben, dass wir alle die Arbeit im Projekt sehr positiv sehen. Wir haben alle fast alle Bereiche mit vier oder fünf bewertet. Eine Ausnahme bildet der Punkt Arbeit mit Twinspace, einige von uns sind der Meinung, das Medium nur teilweise genutzt zu haben, und auch das Arbeiten mit Twinspace fand für diese Schülerinnen und Schüler nur teilweise statt.
Drei von uns denken, dass ihnen bei der Arbeit mit den anderen Ländern Vorurteile kaum bewusst geworden sind. Dies liegt wahrscheinlich daran, dass sie sich dessen schon vorher bewusst waren.
Insgesamt glauben wir, dass wir in diesen zwei Jahren viel über Europa und interkulturelle Teamarbeit gelernt haben.

Interkulturelle Kompetenz mehr oder weniger entwickelt

So wie nach dem erstem Projektjahr, haben wir uns mit Hilfe der Umfrage „Meine interkulturelle Kompetenz“ bewertet. Nach der Analyse der Ergebnisse können wir feststellen, dass wir alle uns mehr oder weniger entwickelt haben.
Die meisten haben wirklich viel getan und waren bei jedem Teilprojekt aktiv, sowohl in TwinSpace als auch bei unseren Infokampagnen. Deshalb wurde so viel in ihren Fragebögen aufgeschrieben, dass man kein leeres „Feld“ finden konnte. Kein Wunder also, dass nur die besten Ergebnisse im zweiten und dritten Teil des Fragebogens von diesen gekreuzt wurden. Sicher haben sie interkulturelle Kompetenz auf hohem Niveau erlangt und jetzt können sie ihre Fähigkeiten weiter entwickeln.
Die zweite Gruppe bilden einige Schüler, die sich ab und zu engagiert haben. Ihre Anwesenheit in TwinSpace ist zwar sichtbar, weil sie einige Artikel, Kommentare oder Filme veröffentlicht haben, aber sie beteiligten sich nicht an jedem interkulturellen Dialog. Sie waren nicht bei jeder Kampagne tätig. Etwas haben sie doch gemacht und relativ viel gelernt.
Leider muss auch über diese gesagt werden, die nur für Teilnahme am internationalen Treffen interessiert waren und ganz wenig in TwinSpace publiziert haben. Vielleicht haben sie die Idee des Projekts nicht richtig verstanden oder einfach nicht ernst genommen. Trotzdem haben sie im gewissen Grade vorwärts gegangen, wenn es um interkulturelle Kompetenz geht, weil sie meiner Meinung nach am meisten durch interkulturelle Klasse bei internationalen Projekttreffen entwickelt wurde.
So war „unser Winken“ in der Videokonferenz ehrlich und wahrheitsgemäß. Das Wissen über Europa und andere Kulturen haben wir im groβen grade erweitert. Besser verstehen wir auch Kulturvielfalt und Notwendigkeit der internationalen Zusammenarbeit und des interkulturellen Dialogs. Wir haben schon eine gewisse Erfahrung, wenn es um Arbeit im internationalen Team geht, können uns mit Vertretern aus anderen Kulturen gut verständigen und gemeinsam zum Ziel erfolgreich kommen. Ob wir das nutzen, zeigt die Zukunft. In jedem Fall sind die meisten bereit, auf europäischer Ebene weiter zu handeln, weil der Weg zur „echten“ interkulturellen Kompetenz noch lang ist.

In what ways have you developed during the course of the project? What intercultural competences have you gained?

When we became part of this project we had the previous assumptions of having relatively good international competence. This project has taught us that those assumptions are both right and wrong. Never before had we gone through such an experience, with plenty of new cultures, people and ways to communicate to learn about. We even learned more about ourselves and where we come from.
It’s easy to have prejudices towards people from cultures that are unknown to yourself, as it is easier to brush it off as that instead of learning about the actual culture. Through this project we have learnt to grow beyond prejudices and also learnt to overcome the easier path of choosing those over learning about the culture in front of you. As an example, it was easy to assume that people of other countries would be bad at languages. This prejudice was quickly proven wrong, as everyone in the project are close to, if not completely, fluent in two languages.
Another aspect of this project is responsibility. Though most of us previously had knowledge of how to care for ourselves we believe that the amount of responsibility we are able to handle has grown throughout this project. We can now not only take care of ourselves, but also someone else.
Leadership, presenting in front of larger crowds and working in larger groups are all qualities that have grown with this project. As of today Swedish students do lack parts of those necessary traits and being able to work on those, as well as showcase them, has been an important part on our front in this project.
Though there were minor issues throughout the whole project, and new ones being found from time to time, the whole group has been able to overcome the vast majority of those, making them experiences to learn from. Of course no project goes free from problems, but the issues we’ve faced in this project have been productive and taught us more than just how to overcome the issue. It has also taught us how to handle similar situations like these.
On another note, however, we do slightly feel like the segregation between different groups were present. Though not big, we were able to notice that certain groups within the project would keep more to themselves than other. As a group it was never a real issue, but something we feel should have been less present throughout the project considering that this was a project to learn about each other.
