Kultura turizma - Read Zagreb, live Zagreb

Ivanom Macan i voditeljicom praktične nastave Kristinkom Lemaić, organizirala brojne aktivnosti koje će sustavnom edukacijom podići svijest učenika o vlastitom gradu i upoznati mlade s turističkim, kulturnim i prirodnim potencijalima Zagreba.

Knjižnica obavlja knjižnične i informacijske djelatnosti nacionalne knjižnice Republike Hrvatske i središnje knjižnice Sveučilišta u Zagrebu te znanstveno-istraživačku i razvojnu djelatnost radi izgradnje i razvoja knjižničnog sustava Republike Hrvatske.

"Culture of tourism - Read Zagreb, live Zagreb"

Students of the Industrial Engineering School in the second educational period of the school year 2021/2022 are involved in the multi-year project of the Zagreb Tourist Board and the City Office for Education, Sports and Youth "Tourism Culture". The project manager for the School, along with the director Nenad Pavlinić, is the teacher Iva Bojčić. Prof. Bojčić, in collaboration with prof. Ivana Macan and the head of practical classes Kristinka Lemaić, organized numerous activities that will raise students' awareness of their own city through systematic education and introduce young people to the tourist, cultural and natural potentials of Zagreb.

The project was called "Read Zagreb, live Zagreb" at the school level, and in order for the students' activities to be in line with the name, the students visited the National and University Library (NSK) with expert guidance. The students learned that NSK is the central library of the Republic of Croatia and the University of Zagreb. As the central institution of Croatian culture, science and education, NSK is a public institution of national importance owned and founded by the Republic of Croatia. The library performs library and information activities of the National Library of the Republic of Croatia and the Central Library of the University of Zagreb, as well as scientific research and development activities for the construction and development of the library system of the Republic of Croatia. The students had the opportunity to see all this live, and in an informal conversation with NSK employees, students shared their experiences of making the third bookcase, small free libraries that work on the principle of "Borrow, read and return or donate a book." NSK employees praised the students for their active contribution to emphasizing the importance of the written word and the way they want to make the book accessible to everyone and encourage citizens to read. NSK employees have expressed interest in enriching small free libraries with donations of books, especially the book house, which is currently under construction within the project "Culture of Tourism - Read Zagreb, live Zagreb".

A walk in the center of Zagreb and a visit to the Museum of Illusions aroused the same interest as a visit to the NSK. Students had the opportunity for an intriguing visual, sensory and educational experience. They resisted gravity in a sloping room, experienced friends and even accompanying teachers increasing before their eyes, got lost in the infinity of the Mirror Room and finally climbed to the ceiling and immortalized the feat with a photo in the Inverted Room! They enjoyed the largest collection of holograms in this part of Europe, gazed at every optical illusion and took a good look at every installation. They are a great, playful reminder that our assumptions about the world we see sometimes are really just that - assumptions! The tour guide at the Museum of Illusions made sure that students learned a lot about sight, perception, the human brain and science, and that they better understand why eyes see things that the brain does not understand.Students of the Industrial School of Mechanical Engineering in the departments of the school workshop diligently continue to make book houses and look forward to new activities in the project "Culture of Tourism - Read Zagreb, live Zagreb".
