Day 1 - 26th March 2022.
The first day of the course "Education outside the classroom - learning from sites, museums, monuments and nature" began with a warm greeting from the hosts and instructions on the schedule of the course. The course was designed in combined classes, in the classroom and in the field. For field work, participants were given tasks that were also examples of activities for students.
The course was attended by 14 participants from Estonia, Poland, Portugal, Hungary and Croatia. The organizers were asked to prepare a short presentation of their country and school with special emphasis on participation in projects and activities that take place outside the classroom.
After the presentation we had ice breaking activities in groups. The task was to make a castle out of spaghetti or paper. During this activity, the participants got to know each other.
On the first day, we got acquainted with the whole concept of EOTC, about the way it is implemented, the curriculum and the history of such a way of teaching. There was a discussion among the participants about positive and negative opinions about EOTC and how to turn negative opinions into positive ones and thus encourage the organization of such a form of teaching.
After classroom classes, we visited the Kourion Archaeological Site where we collected data for group work that we will present on the last day of the course.
