Book Day in Italy

  • Book day was a special one for two classes of our school. They visited the public Library, Manfrediana, which is one of the oldest libraries in our district. We were met by two guides, who showed us around. The children were allowed into remote places, preserving special objects, like the room where a  very old painted map of the town (tracing back to the 17th century) is hung, or the so called “sala del settecento” (the 7 hundreds hall), preserving ancient books. The tour ended in the Children’s room, where they could choose their books and borrow them. This was the beginning of a monthly visit, offering the opportunity to all children to borrow their favourite books enhancing their interest in reading.
