  • Living and studying in Oxford.

A trip in Oxford can be a dream, but if you can live and study in Oxford, it isn't a dream, it is an incredible experience. Oxford is a wonderfull city and when you are there you are inside to English culture, overall university culture.

When I started to study English, I believed that if I wanted to improve my English, I would have to travel to England. Now, I think that it is a compulsory to travel to England or other English speaker country, to learn a real English.

In August, and during 2 weeks, I did an English course. In Oxford, there are a lot of English Schools, and it was very difficult to choose among those schools. Finally, I choosed British Study Centres. I read a lot of commets about this school, and all of them were good comments.

In the follow photo, you can see our firts day at school. In this photo is my collegue and me

If you know more about our school, you can visit it in the following web:

    https://www.british-study.com/adults/mybsc/

    This is our Language School:

In my classroom, there was a lot of nationalities, I was only Spanish person, for this reason I had to make an effort to speak English. Firts days were very difficult, but then I improve my English because we only could speak English... In the following photo you can see my classroom, my teacher and some classmates.

I think that it isn't interesting to write about my class in the School, because it was an adult class, and we study English with the same way that we study in Spain: a little grammar, some listenings, and a lot of speakings. It was very intensive, because we had class, three hour per day.

During first week, I lived in a Student accomodation: Slade Park:

But, in the second week, I lived with a English family. There were 5 English students and an English teacher plus, our English mom. This experience was incredible because, we lived like a real English family: our rutine, our food... And, overall, we spoke a lot of English, and our mom corrected our mistakes. It was a real learn English, because, now, I remember those mistakes in my mind and I try not to do it. With this "English family" (we were two Spanish, two Turks, a Italian, a Pakistani and our English mom), we did some interesting sightseeing, and we visited some places where there aren´t a lot of turism.

All days after my class I did a lot of turism. Oxford is a interesting city, it is very famuos for their university and their colleges , there are a lot of building and museum that you can visit for free. I could't visit the University Library, because only it can be visited by student in their postgrade and university teacher. The library is very curious for its form...

The colleges where they study, are  wonderfull. There are historical building, but you can only visit one section, because the rest of the building is private. The most famous college is Christ Church. It is the most famuos because some  part of Harry Potter's film, was red there. And the dinning room is a copy for their dinning room. Some photos...

But, the most wonderfull is the Magdalen College. Only one photo...

Of course, Oxford has a lot of interesting things like:

    • Einstein's black board:

    • Ashmolean Museum:

    • Or the famous Alice's shop:

Yes!!!! When we finished our 2 week, we have our certificate:

But, for me, the most important thing was: to learn the English Culture. I think that is very important to know the culture, because, we don´t teach a language, we teach a culture: other way to live that we must respect and understand.

And... That's all!!!! (at the moment)

    To be continued...
