Positive metamorphosis

  • "What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough.(...) what reason have you to be morose, uncle? You're rich enough." ("Christmas Carol" by Ch. Dickens) - Can only a poor man be merry? What can change a man?

This is my opinion about luck and postive metamorphosis.

    Luck

Everybody defines happiness differently. This is due to the fact that each human feels happiness differently depending on culture and prosperity. For me, happiness is when I can spend time with my family. But also the execution of my hobbies, such as riding on horses, means luck for me. In developing countries, like in Africa, a simple glass of water can make someone happy is. What I take for granted, is luck for many others. A roof over your head, clothes and food are things that are normal for me. That makes me appreciate much things in my life. For me my hobbies, but also my family are privileges, for which I am very grateful. I am happy to live in this prosperity.

    Hi Amelie,

I definitely agree with your opinion about different meanings of happiness for everybody. That is true we do not appreciate simple things such as family, clothes or… clean water, just because they are normal for us. Sometimes we want to have better things than others, but is it real happiness? Ebenezer Scrooge, the main character in “A Christmas carol” by Charles Dickens did not see other people’s needs. He just wanted to have more money – not to help others, because he cared only for himself. Finally, he understood that he should share his goods with people in need. In my opinion, it does not matter how much we have, because money will not give us what we really want. We are truly happy when we give someone happiness. Do you agree with me?

    Hello Amelie,

Like you I think that happiness means something different for everyone. And I think it's a shame some of us make it harder for others to gain their personal happiness. For example, in some countries you can get sentenced to death simply because you love some of the same gender, which forces those people into hiding, denying their feelings. Racism, too, can make a person believe that he or she is worth less and that causes unhappiness. The moment you don't get to be who you are, you loose the ability to find your own happiness.

Hi, I agree with you by saying that happiness is slightly (or rather) different for everyone, it can also happen that sometimes it's not understandable for everyone, but that defines a person's very own identity. Personal Happiness is for some easier to achieve than for others because maybe they're living under different circumstances. The area around you is kind of "shaping" you and the way you become happy, especially in childhood this is important. Finally I can say that, giving and taking are very important elements of happiness.
