Lavender story - Czech cross-curricular project

  • project Facebook

In May and June 2018, Czech pupils worked on the cross-curriculum projects. It started in April and ended on 9 May 2018 before Czech Mothers´ Day. Pupils from 2 to 5 grades cooperated within their classes, grades, and with older and younger peers.

Children learnt grammar in articles about lavenders, solved crosswords, read rhymes, and wrote their rhymes in the Czech Language. They sang English song Lavender´s blue in Music lesson. They made posters, brought products, lotion, and pillow with lavender scent. They studied lavenders in Biology, brought real flowers to school, In Art lesson, pupils made cards, painted, and drew lavenders. They made paper flowers and paper lavender dolls in Craft lessons. Pupils used all their senses: they ate lavender cookies, drank lavender tea, smelt, and touched the flowers.

On 11 May we opened the display in the school hall and organized the Lavender Day, all pupils dressed in purple and violet clothes. We invited parents to our workshops.
