    PHOTO CONTEST in our countries

    Each country organized its photo contest in 3 categories (Architecture, Nature, Urban Art) and chose 9 best photos that were displayed in the hosting school during the project meeting in the Czech Republic in March 2019. Parents and the public were invited to see the project results.

    DISPLAY OF WINNERS

    The best photographs were displayed during the Transnational Meeting 4 in Ostrava, Czechia. 

     

    In November 2018, the Czech school launched a photography competition for pupils. The deadline was December 15, 2018. Pupils from grade 1 to 9 could take part and send photography into one of these categories: a) Architecture b) Nature c) Urban Art 

    This competition was aimed to encouraged also the older pupils to get more involved in our Erasmumus+ project activities and inform parents. We got 114 photos, mostly from the nearby industrial city part called Vítkovice. 25 pupils and 2 teams took part, eleven pupils were from grades 5 - 6, thirteen from grades 7 - 8, one from grade 9, and a Biology teacher.

    Below are photos which were chosen to represent our country in the international photo display which will take part in our school in March during the visit of teachers from our partners' schools, parents will be invited on 14 March (concert with presentations from international workshops) and on 28 March (Open Door Day for future pupils and their parents).

    In January 2019, a jury with 2 Art teachers, one ICT teacher, the project coordinator, and 3 pupils picked the most interesting photos. Below are photos chosen for the International display. Photos Deserted Area in Vítkovice and A Butterfly in a Botanic Garden got the most points from both juries. In the second place were photos A Ladder to Heaven, A Lonely Daisy, A Pond in the Forest, and A Blue Butterfly (which was not chosen for the display). The teacher jury chose photos Going Home, Escape from Vítkovice, and Graffiti from Lower Vítkovice for the display and they also awarded three more photos. Pupils jury chose Sunset for the display and awarded five more photos. A special award was given to the set of photos on the national tree, on the capital city, on the high mountain, on reflections in glass, on the Bolt watchtower, on detailed photo documentation of Czech House, and the city centre. Special award of the school deputy was given to photos of the best mine tower, of the best mosaics. Seven pupils were awarded for their description of the reasons fo take their photos.

    A) ARCHITECTURE in Ostrava

    CZ - ESCAPE FROM VÍTKOVICE

    This photo was taken by Amálie, class 8.B. What did she say about it?

    "In the beginning, I had the idea of shooting a mining tower, but when I arrived in the deserted industrial area of Lower Vítkovice, I was very fond of a stature which was holding a sphere above its head and was caught in the air. And it was also the second golden hour for photographers, it worked out nicely." 

    CZ - DESERTED AREA IN VÍTKOVICE

    This photo was taken by Barbora from class 6.D. Why did she take this photo?

    "We went with my class to take pictures of Lower Vítkovice and I and my friend photographed everything that we saw. I liked this photo the most."

    What did the jury like? Art teacher: "Composition."
    Pupils jury: "You can see a nice winter in a remote environment. There is an interesting background, nice composition. I like the wasteland there."

    "I was walking around and I got the idea   to take a picture of it."

    The pupils' jury said: "I like the composition."

    She said: "Even though we are in town, we can find beautiful nature here. I am glad that we have this forest."

    CZ - A LONELY DAISY

    "When I was taking a photo of graffiti on a fence along a busy road with cars speeding on one side and trains on the other side, I noticed a lonely daisy. I wanted to take a photo from above, but it was not perfect. So I had to lie down on the dirty ground. It was a great experience for me."

    CZ - A BUTTERFLY IN A BOTANIC GARDEN

    "I was walking through our city forest as many times before and I was shooting randomly interesting objects. This photo was taken in a part called Botanic Garden."

    Pupils jury said: "We like the beautiful summer environment, focus, and composition."

    "I imagine that it's a ladder to infinity. When someone dies, it opens."

    The art teacher said: "I like composition, color, contrast (sharp x blurry)."

    "This photo attracted me by having interesting colorful faces that were looking at a magic fire which enabled them to in the future. So it appealed to me."
