The Nutcracker

  • NUTCRACKER BALLET

Class 4D worked almost 2 months before the Coronavirus pandemic on this performance. Our pupil Darina, who was chosen to dance in The Nutcracker with the Moscow Ballet when they were in Ostrava, prepared the choreography, chose music part from the ballet, and brought all costumes. She taught the girls basics of ballet and here is the result. After some pupils could return back to school, we made this film in June.

Czech pupils from grade 9 learnt about the Nutcracker in English lessons during the distance learning when schools were locked down due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. They created posters with Postermywall, here is David´s poster.

Adéla from class 9A described the history and content of the Nutcracker in her project.

    Tereza from class 9B wrote:

"Although I have never been to the ballet and it is not exactly my favourite genre for some it can be an interesting ballet performance."

OUR PUPIL DANCED WITH MOSCOW BALLET

We are very proud that our pupil Darča was chosen to dance in Nutcracker ballet with the Bolšoj Theatre (Russia) when they were performing in Ostrava in December 2019.

We asked her to help us with this part of our project and she happily agreed even though she is only 10 years old. She found 6 girls interested in this ballet workshop, prepared music and choreography and we could start.

BALLET WORKSHOP 1 - BEFORE PANDEMIC

In January we held our first Nutcracker workshop. Our little ballerina Darča led the warmup, showed and explained the basic ballet positions. Number 4 is not a real stand, it is actually moving so we could not take a photo. After this ballet routine, she explained what she plans and girls started to learn their dance. Finally, Darča danced her solo dance. She was very nice and professional ballet teacher.
