We celebrated 100 years of independent state!

The 1st republic was established at the end of World War I on 28 October 2018. The first president was T. G. Masaryk.

Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (7 March 1850 – 14 September 1937), was a Czechoslovak politician, statesman, sociologist, and philosopher. After trying to reform the Austro-Hungarian monarchy into federal state, with the help of the Allied Powers, he eventually succeeded in gaining Czechoslovak independence as a republic after World War I. He both founded and was the first President of Czechoslovakia and so he is called the "President Liberator". Masaryk was re-elected as president three times: in May 19201927, and 1934.

During the last week of October, all pupils took part in the project days. In the photos, you will see also a Lime, which is the Czech national tree. Some classes went to the oldest and biggest lime in Ostrava which is called the Lime of the Republic. They measured its perimeter and sang the Czech national anthem there. Some children dressed in old fashion clothes. Other pupils went to a theatre to see a play about Czechoslovakia. Many important historical events happened in our country when the last number of the date was 8, that´s why some pupils made posters with this number.
