We give a second live to old books!
Book folding workshops took place last week in VIII LO Kraków. Each participant folded 1 letter of the word "Erasmus +". They had to be precise and patient. The results are great. They are shown in the display case next to the school library.

Hi, I drew something from one of my favourite books called "Uncharted: The fourth Labyrinth". It's a book based on a popular video game, where the main character Nathan Drake discovers mysterious places and solves a lot of riddles in order to get a lost treasure. On the way he gets easily into conflicts and also has to fight his way to the treasure, so his adventures are also connected with a lot of action. I hope you like my drawing;)

Hi!
I drew an alternative book cover for one of my favorite books "Libellensommer". It's a love story of a white girl that lives in the city and an indian boy that lives in the wild, which fits our topic "In line with nature" very well!

Hey there!
I decided to draw an alternative cover for one of my favorite books called "Divergent - one choice will define you" by Veronica Roth. It is the first book of a whole trilogy. If you're interested in it, you should definitely check them out! But if you aren't really the reader-type you can also watch the movies instead. Maybe you already know about the books or the movies? If you do, then you may recognize the design ;)

“Convenience Store Woman” by Sayaka Murata
is an amazing book I read actually quite some time ago and that is definitely worth the reread that's due soon. It tells the story of Keiko Furukura, a Japanese woman who has always been different and thus tries even harder not to be, to fit society’s expectations of her. She gets a small job, appropriate for a young woman, as a convenience store worker where she fulfills all her tasks with utmost diligence. While the world seems to accept her choices, she starts getting older and new demands are right around the corner. Marry, settle down, get children. That’s what the people surrounding her want and expects from a woman and Keiko will give it all to fit in.
Not to spoil too much about the contents, I can say that it deals with finding purpose between what society demands of you and what you want but also need. It’s a small and short book but oh, so enjoyable! It presents an interesting story with a main character like you’ve never met before and comes to a remarkable conclusion and throughout it all it’s incredibly hilarious.
And here are some of my favourite quotes from the book, painted onto old book pages:
Maybe some of you are even interested in reading the book now, I very much hope so and wish everyone reading this a good day. :}

This book is one of my all-time favourites. It’s literally one of the most amazing pieces of literature I’ve ever read. “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous” by Ocean Vuong is written like a letter to a mother by her son. Therein he talks about how he grew up and how his mother but also the world around them shaped him, addressing many big topics like discrimination of his family as Vietnamese, identity and his experience of growing up queer when you couldn’t be and finding home in a place where you aren’t made to feel so.
But also smaller, more personal topics and experiences with medication and all the ways he bonded, and didn’t, with his mother.
All this is written with Ocean Vuong’s unique sense for the right words and deeply emotional storytelling. I’ve deeply fallen in love with its poetical phrasing and the philosophical ideals presented.
Here are again some of my favourite quotes painted onto older book pages, although this time it was a lot harder to reduce them to a realistically manageable amount. I’ve just highlited so many absolutely gorgeous passages…
All that said, it’s writing style is fairly complex and the contents aren’t for everyone. Tough topics are being addressed and due to its deeply humane nature the stories told are a bit “rougher.” If you would like to give it a try but still are a bit unsure, maybe inform yourself a bit more online beforehand.
Personally, again, I’d describe it as one of the most amazing books I’ve ever gotten my hands on and I hope everyone else who should choose to read it can say the same.
Have a good day! :}

Hi,
I drew a book cover for "Die Brücke nach Terabithia"/"Bridge to Terabithia" which is a book I loved as a child. It is about a special friendship and their own world in nature.
