    TOPIC: Season of a year – Autumn

    Subject: Science and Art /trans curricular teaching

     

    2nd GRADE

    Length: 2 lessons

    Aims:

    1. Learn about seasons in a year
    2. Find out features of Autumn in nature
    3. Get acquainted with trees growing nearby
    4. Create autumn picture from the material found in the schoolground.

    Material and gadgets needed: gloves, bags, box, smartphones, smartboards, etc.

    In class:

    • The lesson starts with the introduction of aims and ways to achieve the goals.
    • The teacher displays the picture of the seasons on the smartboard. The students describe the pictures. Then the teacher shows pictures of tress in different seasons. Students have to name the features and the seasons in the picture. They can guess the names of trees.

    Outside:

    • Students walk around the territory of the school taking pictures of different trees. They are also given a chart to complete with: a name of the tree, its type, features of leaves (shape, colour, texture), nuts of the trees, etc.
    • Students try to predict the age of trees by measuring the stem with the tape in centimetres.
    • Students in groups play Autumn Scavenger hunts. They have to find and collect the items displayed on the box of the trees in the area of school.
    • Students create a piece of art using the collected items in the game Autumn Scavenger hunts.

    2nd lesson

    Round table discussion method: the class shares their impressions
