ACTIVITY THEME: Theater performed by 8th grade students on 2nd may 2022

Class level: 8th Grade

A theatre took place in the auditorium of Colégio Dr. Luís Pereira da Costa with the objective of showing content learned in the Chemistry subject, through chemical experiments.

This theater consisted of a competition between two teams of 8th grade students and the objective is to perform each experience in one minute.

In addition, this theater makes it possible to alert participants and the public to the increase of pollution and greenhouse gases.

The chemical experiments were:

• lava simulation of a volcano and the greenhouse gases emitted by it
• simulation of chemical combustion reactions:

- in the burning of ethyl alcohol which produces a bright blue flame and which is more noticeable in a dark room, without visible light.

- in the burning of a strip of magnesium which produces a lively and strongly exothermic combustion, in which it releases energy in the form of heat and radiation, white light and causes the appearance of magnesium oxide.
