    Length: 2 lessons

    Aims:

    1. Find out about archeology and tools used
    2. Learn history of the place throughout centuries
    3. Learn specific glossary and skills
    4. Write a letter to the future generations

    • Learn to notice details and accuracy
    • Study and analyze what’s important nowadays
    • Master personal and cognitive skills, booster self- esteem, creativity, patience and analytic thinking.
    • Practice speaking skills.

     

    Material and gadgets needed: gloves, different brushes, sand, artefacts, paper, pens, a box, etc.

    Lesson 1

    In the museum

    Planning

    The teacher introduces the topic and the aims, explains the tasks and the sequence of activities.

    Using modern devices students listen and watch a documentary about the place they live now many centuries ago. They do interactive tasks using smartphones.

    Each student is given a box with a hidden artefact from different centuries.

    Using dental picks, trowels, brushes, measuring tapes, line levels, storage bags, pens, and pencils students discover artefacts in the sand.

    They measure them, write a detailed description of the item, compare with the friend’s artefact.

    They try to guess the century and the purpose the artefact was aimed for. Then take a picture of the item.

    The 2 nd lesson

     Revision and evaluation

    Aim

    • to introduce artefacts, the process of the work and the history of the times the item was used.
    • Write a letter about the items people use nowadays for future generations.

    Methods and strategies used :

    STEM:  to develop observation, creativity, problem solving, experimenting, analysis.
