    Topic: Let’s get to know our  ancient faith

    Class level: 6th grade, 13 year-olds

    Short description (impact on students): The extracurricular activity consisted of visits to two churches, an Orthodox  one and a Catholic one, a visit to the arheological site the Royal Courts and one to the town museum.  The teacher conducted the observation systematically, the collected knowledge was applied by solving work tasks in various digital applications. The students appreciated the activity, they were actively involved, they showed interest in getting to  know the sacred spaces, the history of these lands and also made interesting materials in various digital applications.

    Time: 2 hours

    Learning objectives: discovering Christian art monuments, church art objects, getting to know aspects related to the history of the visited attractions, the life and activity of the ruler Stephen the Great who was heavily involved in the religious life; discovering how the Christian faith was and is lived; learning to appreciate the spiritual values of these God-blessed lands; learning to respect beauty in art, culture and religion.

    Process:

    1. Visit to the Catholic church in the town. Students are guided to observe the features of the Catholic church

    2. Visit to the Archaeological site the Royal Courts, the former residence of the ruler of Moldova from the 15th century, Stephen the Great. Students are encouraged to imagine how the ruler Stephen the Great sat in the garden of this palace and listened to the bells that were calling Christians to prayer and to solve the following working task:

    • Make a poster in the Piccollage application in order to promote the Royal Courts

    3. Visit to the Church ”Saint John the Baptist”, built by the same ruler, Stephen the Great, construction that impresses through the architectural line which is historically important. Students are encouraged to observe the features of the church and to solve the following working tasks:

          • Make in the Bookcreator or Storyjumper applications a material with specific aspects of the places of worship visited today – the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church “Saint John the Baptist” Vaslui

    • Make a poem of 5 verses following the structure:

    1. Noun – Church of Saint John

    2. 2 adjectives

    3. 3 verbs

    4. A sentence made up of 4 words

    5. A key word

    4.  Visit to the Museum

    Students are encouraged to observe the exhibits that show that Romanians have treasured their faith since ancient times, exhibits such as religious books, icons, battle flags that had embroidered the symbol of the cross that has protected them in fights against overbearing enemies and to solve the following task:

         • Create in the Bubbl.us application a conceptual map in which you will integrate words, drawings and symbols, as well as your impressions of the visit to the museum
