Day 5

  • Day 5

    1. The Bank of Time. Time for action 1

The first thing the students have to do is to acquire this concept: what the bank of time is.

Early in the morning, Ms. Viviana Locatelli, a teacher of Economy, is with us to explain this new concept in an simple, enjoyable way.

"Bank of time is system in which people cooperate with each other since we all have different skills. It is important to not waste any time, since you have the opportunity to help a person every second of the day."

"Bank of time is a new system in which there are not involved money. It is about skills and giving help in return."

"It's the new system of economy in which instead of money you exchange your time."

2.Bank of time- Time for action 2

The students discussed the different problems with getting newly arrived included in the society and came up with plenty of ideas of actions they can carry out to improve the inclusion in the society.

" Yes we all could be a member of a bank of time because most of us can speak with lots of languages so we can improve someones communication skills."

"Yes everyone could be a part of the bank of time. For example we have the skill to teach our language."

"We could be members of a bank of time and we could teach languages, maths and everything we feel comfortable with so that other people could get an education as well"

"I think all of us can be a part of it. For example some of us can help Young children with drawing, math, also we can sing  for old people and babysit"

    3. Declaration of intent final document

On 23rd and 24th, we have worked on the Declaration of Intent. The final document is a collection of 10 articles meat to be spread in our comunities so that people can act and improve their attitude towards people in need, newcommers included.

Now it is just a word document, a more formal aspect will be given to it. Anyway, its content is what is really important.

In an official celebration a flash mob held in the garden of our school, we read our important 10 statesments, 4 representatives, 1 for each country, read them aloud in front of more than 1000 students. The Mayor of Paderno Dugnano Mr. Alparone and the Counselor for Education at the City Council Ms. Nava were  with us and shared our intents.
