OBJECTIVE
Familiarise students with the concept of digital identity.
TIME EXPECTED
20/25 minutes.
DEVELOPMENT
To get to know the concept of "digital identity", we are going to propose a simile between our physical identity and our digital identity. The students, individually, will write down on a piece of paper three physical traits, three psychological traits and three hobbies, likes or interests that identify them. They will have this information in duplicate (two papers or notes), in such a way that each student will keep their personal information on one paper, and the other paper, which will be anonymous (no name or surname of any student is indicated), will be included in a bag. Afterwards, the teacher randomly distributes these anonymous papers among the students, and they have to find out to which classmate these identities correspond by analysing the written information. Each student writes down on the paper they have received the name and surname of the classmate they think the information corresponds to, whether they are wrong or not.
Subsequently, in a large group, all the identities are read out to check whether the identity-name relationship is correct or not. To carry out these checks properly, the students use the paper they have been keeping from the beginning.
After this activity, a reflective debate is opened between teacher and students, raising the following questions in our Forum Section.
1. Do you share personal information about yourself online, such as photographs, videos, interests, hobbies, name, address, phone number, email, school information, etc.?
2. Can you easily identify your friends based on the personal information they share, how do you do it or could you do it?
