    HOW TO USE TECHNOLOGIES AND SOCIAL NETWORKS FOR WELL-BEING SHARING

    DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY

    The thread of our activities is “The word harms, the word persuades, the word soothes” citing the sentence of Ennio Flaiano, a very famous writer who was born in Pescara.
    Italian teachers will involve foreign students in several activities about two topics: How to prevent risk behaviours in social network; Ethical use of technology. All the students will work in team to realize a short film about risk behaviour in social network: they will represent many situations both in real and virtual life, pointing out how easy it can be to compromise a friendship with an unfair use of language. The workshop will also involve students with special needs, who every year realize a short movie with their teachers about inclusion. This experience will get Italian and foreign students, through brainstorming and circle time, to reflect about the importance of using a kind and polite
    language in everyday life, as well as fair play in sport, environmental care, respect for people with special needs, without differences of gender or religion. After their reflections about the importance of this theme, they will realize “the Manifesto of non-hostile words”, written in English and in all the languages of the partner Countries: the “words of kindness” will decorate the pathway to enter our school, which will become the “Avenue of Welcome”. The Manifesto will also enrich the padlet they will have already set up online. To experience a friendly use of social network, students will work together in our digital lab; under the guide of our Technology teachers, they will create an Instagram page related to the project. All the students involved will be able to post on their Instagram page some pictures with short descriptions in English to share experiences related to leisure time, sport, food education, information about their city or school. The page will be managed by the “Cybermentors” students, who will control the language used in every comment, noticing the netiquette and putting
    a kind of “red dot” beside every unfair expression used. After their work, they will have the chance to show other students how social network can be used in a friendly way, sharing information and pictures in order to know each other and become friends. The short movie, the Manifesto and the Instagram page will be presented during a special event that will be taken in our school with the participation of parents, the Mayor, local administrators and the chief of provincial school office.
    During the five days, host students will guide partners to visit the 5 schools of our Institute, the Town Hall, museums and the most interesting places in our city.
    While students will be busy with their workshops, teachers will take part in some meetings to discuss about the progress of the project and share information about their different school systems. Italian teachers will also present the works realized on the same topics by other classes not directly involved in the project.
