As part of the Erasmus+ project I.D.E.A. Together we can!, a virtual mobility for teachers took place on 18th, 19th and 24th May 2021.
Teachers from Poland, Slovenia, Italy, Turkey and Croatia participated in the mobility. Our participating team numbered seven teachers. The organizer and host school of the virtual mobility was the Primary School Ljudevita Pivka from Ptuj.
In the course of the activities we learned a great deal about the Slovenian system of education with the emphasis on the children with developmental difficulties.
The Primary School Ljudevita Pivka has a mobile team of special education experts who ensure the educational support for children with developmental difficulties integrated in regular schools on a daily basis. After we saw a presentation of the mobile team and their work, Mrs Katjuša Koprivnikar introduced us to the IRIS Centre from Ljubljana which specializes in the education of blind and visually impaired persons.
On the second day we learned about the Slovenian institutions which focus exclusively on the education of children with developmental difficulties: Centre for Training of the Physically Handicapped Young People Kamnik, CIRIUS Centre from Vipava, Hearing and Speech Centre Maribor, and Centre for Vocational Education in Ptuj.
On the final day of the virtual mobility the staff of the host school gave us a demonstration of the methods they use in their work: the Halliwick concept of swimming and rehabilitation in water, activities with therapy dogs, and therapy riding.
Animals play an important role in human lives; one of the greatest is them being our pets. Pets, can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your cardiovascular health. Caring for an animal can help children grow up more secure and active.
The online visit in Slovenia showed us the directions that we could improve our school activities.
Thanks to the Slovenian team. We enjoyed the activities we carried out after your presentation.
