    Story of Sliač
Our town Sliač is so beautiful that it is also called "Pearl of Pohronie" It has a very long history. First, two villages were established - Hájniky and Rybáre, which were divided by the river Hron. People hunted in Hájnik and hunted in Rybárs. The first written
records of these villages date back to the mid-13th century. The town of Sliač is probably best known for its healing springs
and belongs to the category of spa towns. As early as the 16th century, local spas were established here, which became the most
sought after in the whole of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The first and oldest written mention of Sliac springs dates back
to 1243. It was at that time King Belo IV. He promoted the neighboring
town of Zvolen to a free royal town and the mineral springs of the
nearby town are mentioned when describing its surroundings and
setting out the boundaries of the area. They are also mentioned
in historical documents already at the turn of the Middle Ages and
modern times. In the 16th century people called these springs
"Teplicae" or Thermae Ribariensis, because they lay in the fishermen.
In 1478, King Matthias Corvinus and his wife Beatrix arrived at
these springs with numerous escorts and tested that the good
reputation of water and beautiful surroundings is true. The king of
fishing was not disappointed by the fishing spas and their
surroundings. The good news about the fishing springs has continued
to spread, mainly to the sick, but also to doctors and writers.
In 1959 the merger of the villages of Hájniky, Rybáre and Sliač -
spa established a joint seat Sliač. Hájníky, Fishermen and Spas are
also symbols of the coat of arms of Siač in the form of a bow with
an arrow, fish and a fountain.
In our school premises we also have the unique Homeland Hall of
Štefan Hudák, where you can find many historical photographs,
chronicles, photo albums, publications, study materials and other
artifacts, from which the mosaic from the history and present of
the town Sliač is exposed. If you would like to know more about our
