    Flooded flat

One day, my grandma came back from work and she couldnt believe her eyes. It was full of water because the neighbours on the upper floor had forgotten to stop the water in the bath. Grandma and grandpa had to dry the flat for two days. Fortunately, it was summer and days were hot. Grandparents had to redecorate the kitchen and the bathroom. It took quite long form them to recover from shock. They had to spend a lot of money. This day became my granddad´s favourite  story to tell again and again. Finally, we all had fun to hear the story.

    How I learned to swim

We were in Croatia. One day we went to a beach. There we found a place to lie down, put up the umbrella and we ran to water. I didnt take my rescue wheel, because i was in a shallow water. I was walking up and down, the water was a little bit deeper, but i still could feel the rocks under my feet. I tried to swim, but it was not easy for me. I tried again and again. I was able to float for a few seconds and it motovated me to try again. Finally i could swim a few meters. My parents were happy and me too.

    Badín pond

It was 8 ago in winter when the story happened. My family went to skate on the pond in nearby Badín. Our friends recommended the place and they said the ice was thick enough to skate on it.

But suddenly, the temperature got higher and it was 12 degrees in the morning. However, my parents decided to go and have a look there. The pond was empty, nobody was there. We were a bit sad. Mum decided to get out of the bus and have a closer look. We saw a big pool in the middle of the pond, which meant that the ice wasnt very thick and skating could be dangerous. Suddenly, my 2 year old brother  left mums hand and started running towards the pool. Mum tried to grab him and shouted but he wouldnt listen. She followed him, but after two steps the ice cracked and she fell into water. Fortunatelly she managed to catch my little brother and pushed him on the bank. She was wet to waist in the cold water. Thanks god she was not far from the edge. She climbed out of water and we went home. Luckily, noone got hurt.

    Holiday in Bulgaria

In summer  a few years ago we decided to go to Bulgaria on holiday. Every evening we had nice walks on the beach and enjoyed the silence and sound of waves.  One sunny afternoon Me and my dad decided to go swimming. We had a swimming competition andths time it was me who reached the finish first. I won and i was very proud of it. But suddenly a big wave hit me and i was under water for some time. When i swam up i couldnt see my dad. I looked around and fortunately I saw him a few seconds later. We had enough of swimming and we went on the shore. I tried to build a sand castle. It was almost ready when the wave destroyed it. I was sitting in the sand and watching people in the sea. This time I decided to go swimming alone. I played in the water and later my mum joined me. We played with the ball. We had much fun. Spending time with the family is the great thing.

    Flooded city

MY grandma says this wasnt a happy end story, but it was very interestingand sad to tell me all about. She was 17 zears old when she left the city of Rolova Huta (Ružín Dam). She used to live there with her parents in a beautiful house. In 1963 she went to visit them and stayed there for a month but many things changed.

One day an army came to tell the people in the city that thay all had to move the city. My grandma was surprised because she didnt understand why. They left the house and moved to a train station house where her father  worked  as a train controller. The village of Margecany has 3 parts and they had to find a place to live there. In the city which they left only a train station and a church left. All the other buildings were flooded because the dam was build in that area. She talks about the life before the dam was built very often. She described the life, and people. Nowadays only a church in the middle of the dam can be seen. You can visit it because there is a bridge over the dam.  Next to the church there is a wooden bench where we usually sit with my grandma and she tell me her memories from her youth ages.

    My holiday experience

Each holiday we try to enjoy different water attractions. This year we decided to try manta. Manta is a big wheel for 4 people which is pulled by a motorboat. We didnt know what to expect. The ride was very fast and i couldnt hold handles very well. I thought i would fall into water. Suddenly the boat manoeuvred to one side and manta turned upside down. We fell into water and manta fell on our heads. We couldnt get out of it. After a while some people helped us and we fi ished the ride to the shore with fear.

    Unusual raft on the stream

One day I was outside with my friends. One of us suddenly slipped and almost fell over the stream. My second friend decided to help her because she fell to mud. But because we had nothing in our hands, so we start to search for something that we can use to pull her out of mud. Then we saw abandoned peace of old furniture, so one of my friends had a good idea to threw the stick on her, but she turned back and the stick flew down the stream. So we decided to build a small raft. Right next to the stream was also one abandoned house where we found lot of things to make our raft goes real. We moved everything into the stream and that we called Abode. Everything ends up fine and me and friends meeting there to this day just for fun. We had built there treehouse, sitting spot, shelter and also simple bridge, so we can cross to the other side of the stream. And on the other side of the stream we build a small garden where we are about to plant some flowers. We even gave our raft a name and that is Friendship Abode.

    My father’s story

This story happened many years ago. My father was 13 years old. Young kids always do many cheeky things and it was not different with my sad. On a sunny day, boys decided to go to the rover Hron and they were thinking about what they were going to do there. One of the boys had an idea. There was a gas tube over the river. They decided to cross the river walking on that tube.  The tube was quite high and it was dangerous. Of course, boys like that kind of adrenaline. They went on tube one by one and slowly moved forward. Unfortunately the tube was slippery and boys fell into the river. It wasn’t deep but they were all wet. After they had crossed the river, they had some time on the bank of the Hron, played together until it got dark. So they decided to go back. They slowly moved on the tube but as they were way, it was even harder than for the first time. So they came home soaking wet and parents weren’t very happy with that.

    My grandparents’ story

Three years ago my grandparents had their flat flooded by their neighbours. They were not at home, and their water tap started leaking and water was in the whole bathroom in a while. My parents were sitting in a kitchen when suddenly they saw the waterdrops falling from the ceiling. They went upstairs but neighbours werent at home and my grandparents couldnt do anything but wait. When the neighbours came home after several hours, the flat was full of water. They had to pay for decorating my grandparents flat and for everything that went wrong.

Asi pred troma rokmi mojim starým rodičom vytopilo byt. Ich susedom nad nimi praskol kohútik kým boli preč a tým pádom o tom ani nevedeli. Zrazu začala starým rodičom kvapkať voda zo stropu. Najskôr si nad tým nelámali hlavu, no neskôr keď museli odcestovať na chvíľku bolo uz neskoro. Ako otvorili dvere do bytu sa ku ivh nohám valila voda. Celý byt museli prerábať ale neplatili to oni ale susedia, ktorý platili za všetko zničené v paneláku.

    Easter story

My mother comes from a small village in Gemer region called Slavošovce. It is a habbit for Easter Monday that boys go to water girls to be healthy and fresh all year round. They carry buckets with them to bring cold water. Girls are not very pleased, for who wants to be poured by a bucket of water? With respect for traditions, and for girls to be healthy, they will eventually go out of house to be watered.

One year when the boys came to water my mum, this story happened. Two boys grabbed her by the hands, one by the right and the other by the left to keep her from running away. One of them had a bucket of water. But when he wanted to pour water on my mother, she pulled another boy and his friend poured all water on him. He was wet from head to toe. The boys took a second bucket of water and wanted to try again, but failed. The water fell on a friend again and he was soaked even more. They managed it for the third time. Soaked boys had to go home to change clothes to go and water other girls.
