Visit to Bröndby Strand

  • Collecting trash at the beach (Brøndby strand)

This week on a typical Wednesday in September, we went to a beach called Brøndby strand, there we collected trash.

The most common thing we found was cotton buds and wrapping paper.  We asked ourselves this question:

How does it end up on the beach?

The cotton buds end up at the beach when people throw them in the toilet and then it goes out into the sea and the waves carry them on to the beach.

Wrapping paper ends up at the beach because people throw it on the beach when they go to the beach.

The thing we don’t understand is, why do people throw trash on the beach when there are trashcans almost every 100 meters?

    What are the consequences?

If we continue throwing trash everywhere, and not thinking about what we throw in our toilets, then sometime in the nearest future, there will be even more pollution, which will end in the ocean, creating islands of trash.  One tragic result will be that more and more animals will suffocate and die because of them eating and getting entangled in the plastic thrown around by people.
