CCS:Womble week

  • During the 1970s the BBC produced a childrens program on TV called  " THE WOMBLES " they were small furry creatures that came out at night and picked up liter left by humans in the parks around London. So we at CCS decided that we would use our 3 lower school classes to be modern day wombles.

We started each day in the classroom and divided the classes into 4 teams red, blue, green and yellow then took the train out to a local beach where the idea was they patrol the beach and beach area and pick up as much rubbish (plastic) as they could find,we went to a different beach each day.

When we got back to school after a long day wombling we put all our new rubbish on either the red, blue, green or yellow tables so all could see how much we had collected in just one day.As Denmark is a rather clean country we did´nt find much but we found some. The next part of the project was on Friday where the 4 groups using glue/tape where asked to use their fantasy and make a statue or picture from the plastic they had found. All parents where invited to a womble meal on the evening where we put on an exibition of all their fine art work, it was a great evening and all the parents loved it.So we had a very cold womble week but very rewarding. :-)
