BeReal is a photo-sharing application that allows users to post one photo per day to show their followers what they are doing in real-time. The BeReal app focuses on authenticity and asks users to be real.
The way BeReal works is it prompts users to take one unedited photo a day at a random time which changes daily. Users then have two minutes to take a photo and post it to the app before it's marked as “late”.
The app notifies users at a random time throughout the day that it's "time to Be Real." A two-minute timer starts when the user opens the app, giving them a limited amount of time to take a picture of whatever they're doing at that moment.
When posting a BeReal, the app takes a picture using both your front and back camera, so other people can see what you look like and where you are, without filters!
It can be used for fun to keep in touch with friend during the day, but also in a didactic way.
Our students used it during a mobility in Germany, not only to share pics of a moment, but to write and speak in English about that precise moment!
