CROATIA

  • Limassol Castle, the Knights and Commandaria:
Our today's  presentation and activities included one of the most important monuments of Limassol’s identity and history, the Castle of Limassol. We found out that the castle is  situated near the old harbour in the heart of the historical centre of the city and that today it houses the Medieval Collection of the Cyprus Museum. It was once the home of Richard the Lionheart who at his wedding served Commandaria, a sweet dessert wine referred to it as “the wine of kings and the king of wines”.

After watching the presentation we did some research on castles in Croatia and realised that there are many impressive castles.

Later, the students used their imagination and created a story set in the Limassol Castle using some of the given words. The stories were quite interesting and funny.

In the end, the students had to find similarities and differences of today's buildings with the Limassol Castle.
