Shoscombe Whole School Summer 2018 Art Week

  • We have enjoyed a whole school art week linked to our Erasmus Plus 'Connect and Unite' theme of 'Connections'.   Local artist Edwina Bridgeman worked with all pupils in small mixed aged groups to construct a 3D installation connecting elements of stories they created. Children created characters, story settings and props based on their drawings. The installation and stories have been documented by the children using ipads.

Teachers also organised a mixed age group rotation of 'Connections' themed art activities in classrooms. We made connections to our Erasmus partner countries Spain and France through printmaking influenced by the cubist guitars of Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris, through Flamenco dancing workshops and also junk modelling constructing Gaudi's Cathedral,  the Sagrada Familia.

Children also created environmental art influenced by Andy Goldsworthy connecting natural materials, and participated in Forest School sessions where they learnt how to weave and connect willow to make dream catchers.
