Building bridges to the continents.

  • In December we have chosen to work with foreign continents, which has given the children of 4th grade an understanding of the world map and of the different ways of living and being a child around the world. We have mainly been working with Tanzania as it is a focus for the danish advent calendar on tv this year. We have read a book called "Amals Secret", where an african boy tells about his daily life. At the same time we have made photo stories about Tanzanias wild life and the life in Dar es Saleem and in the countryside. The students have cooked african food and made toys from recycling material and made tinga tinga paintings ( which is an Tanzanian traditional painting). As a danish tradition we baked a lot of different danish cookies to have when we "hygger" with candles and reading.

We have had a lecture about Peru in South America from young siblings to one of our students and a mother has told us about growing up in Australia. Next week we will have 2 refugees from Eritrea coming to tell us about being a refrugee in Denmark.

Here we see the young people, who went hiking in Peru. Next we had a mother telling us about AUSTRALIA and how it was to be a danish girl of 5, learning language and another culture. The children made beautiful native paintings called TINGA TINGA
