CONNECTIONS - WORKING WITH MUSIC, DANCE, PERFORMANCE and VISUAL ARTS

  •  St Julian's pupils have been working on a very special performance. It is a pantomime production that they have altered themselves, added music to and designed dances within it. it is a whole class performance that looks at connections between fact and fiction. It also looks at the connections between story writing and performance.

For many of our children this was their first time performing in public- at the famous Egg Children's theatre in Bath. The performance was a huge success and every seat in the house was booked. We had over 100 friends, family  and members of the school community coming to watch the children. We were all hugely proud of every child in class 4. The whole class was involved and had a speaking part in the play which was wonderfully inclusive.

The children also designed their own costumes and had some great ideas. Look at the brilliant photos.

As part of our focus on visual arts, when our partner schools visited us in England we worked together in mixed country groups to examine the relationship and connection between art and nature. We visited the very beautiful Stourhead estate and collaborated on outdoor temporay artworks, using only the organic materials around us. We researched the work of famous natural artists such as Andy Goldsworthy and used his work as inspiration to create stunning pieces of our own. Here are some of the results:
