    SUMMARY

Teachers and students from all nations took part in this last mobility. It consisted of three different parts: The first part took place in Neresheim, the second and the third part in Freiburg and Strasbourg. During the third part not all project partners could be present.

Part 1, in Neresheim (7 days):

The school organised a program for its international visitors with activities related to the subject of climate change / sustainability/ biodiversity: In three internationally mixed groups, all students and teachers took part in a hands-on activity in the forest  (cutting young trees in order to create space for the trees that are going to be harvested in 70 years), a bike tour (including visit of wind power station and information about beavers) and a presentation about the importance of sharks and about the pollution of oceans with plastic by Dr. Ingrid Ziegler from the NGO “Sharkproject International”. Furthermore, we traversed the "CliMApp" route and there were guided tours of an organic farm and a forest kindergarten, presentations by Estonian students on environmental topics and the official awarding of the eco certificate “Grüner Aal” to the Werkmeister Gymnasium Neresheim. All guest students and their hosts took part in 5 hours of group work (which had been prepared by the students in their home countries beforehand): In five internationally mixed groups, they created posters on climate change, biodiversity, agriculture / forestry, waste and energy, on which they compared the situations in the five partner countries (or islands).

In two working sessions, the teachers exchanged information (e.g. on the climate ambassadors at their schools) and discussed organizational matters (curriculum, preparation of the public evening).

On the last evening in Neresheim, there was a public presentation of the project, which proved to be very successful: All partner schools had their own desks, the CliMApp and the posters made at the students’ international group work were presented, pictures were shown on a big screen. Students of all nations talked to the visitors.

We put much effort into making the students interact internationally, and we succeeded by taking the following measures: ice breaker games at the beginning, a big welcome party, internationally mixed groups wherever possible and the need to interact with each other during the group work. The students supported these efforts by organizing big private parties on two evenings.

Part 2, in Freiburg and Strasbourg (3 days):

Beside our plan to visit the European Parliament in Freiburg, it was the special wish of some of our guests to see the world famous “eco capital” Freiburg. So, during the second part of the mobility, with all our guests and all the host students (50 people altogether)

we did a guided “Green City Tour” of Freiburg and guided tours of Freiburg’s sustainable district Vauban and of the fish ladder in Gambsheim (in all three tours we divided the group into three smaller groups). In Strasbourg we did a guided tour of the European Parliament.

Part 3, in Freiburg and Strasbourg (3 days):

Unfortunately, not all partners were able to join the last part of this mobility because, despite all efforts, it proved to be impossible to match the schedules of the MEPs with those of the Hungarian, Estonian and Spanish partners. All Martinican guests and six German students, accompanied by a teacher, presented the work and outcomes of the project to the members of the European Parliament Maria Heubuch (Germany) and Louis Joseph Manscours (Martinique). They also stressed their commitment to support Martinique in its effort to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in order to protect the planet as European citizens.
