    Germany: We tried your ideas although my students did not know anything before about parabolas. It was the oppotunity to explain how to use quadratic functions to draw (by hand or with a computer) graphs of these functions. in math lesson it is normally taught one year later. But the students still know the concept of functions, they know how to deal with linear functions.

    Video how to construct the flower (left picture). You have to look for the point of intersection of two parabolas and use the x-value to limit the graph.
