FEBRUARY-MARCH 2015: TASK 3 - MATHS & TRAVELLING

  • In February we started TASK 3 - "Maths and Travelling". In this task we had to make a journey plan - how to travel to the partner schools at the lowest cost and within the shortest time. We worked in groups, looked for the necessary information on the maps and in the internet and made calculations. We showed the results of our research in PP presentations or posters and presented them in our classes. Since its starting date coincided with tha transnational meeting, the task was presented in a lesson show by a Polish geography teacher (see the article about the transnational meeting in Poland - in the PAGES).

In this task students had to calculate how to travel to the partner schools the fastest and the cheapest and they had to cooperate in groups. They used the maps, the Internet and their mathematical skills to calculate the cost of the particular trips. Finally, they prepared presentations of their work - either in posters or in multimedia presentations.

The photos below present the lesson show in Poland during the transnational meeting in February 2015.

    TASK 3 IN POLAND:

In Poland every class worked on a different route and showed the results of their research in geography lessons via multimedia presentations. Here are some photos from these lessons:

    TASK 3 IN ROMANIA:

The third activity of the project was a great way of engaging our students in an activity that was both pleasurable and useful. The research they had to undergo made them surf the internet in search for means of transport, accommodation, local attractions. We decided to make some of our classes work in teams, whereas other classes made projects at home.
The fact that they had to present their projects in front of the class was also an interesting experience, especially for younger students who carefully prepared their speech and were very proud of their achievements and keen to share their findings.
