TRANSNATIONAL MEETING IN ROMANIA - OCTOBER 2015

  •

The stay in Romania on 5 - 9 October 2015 was another unforgettable experience in our project "Maths Is Everywhere!". Our Romanian friends created an amazing atmosphere and planned a lot of interesting activities for the teachers and students.

First, we all took part in the celebration of the World Teachers' Day in the Town Hall where we were entertained by talented young people and shown around the Town Hall.

On that day we were also officially greeted by the partner school SCOALA GIMNAZIALA ,,SFANTA VINERI'' in Ploiesti - the head teacher, teachers and students. In the afternoon we joined our efforts in the task - "Maths and Games".

We spent the following days sighsteeing. We visited the famous Bran Castle - the one where Dracula used to live ;) as well as the picturesque towns of Sighisoara and Sibiu.

On 8 October our coordinators were introduced to the Mayor and the Inspector of Education and together discussed our project and importance of intercultural exchange between our schools. Meanwhile, we, the students, continued the project task "Maths and Sport" - we prepared an extremely long poster connected with sports disciplines. In the afternoon we set off on another trip - this time to a beautiful place called Sinaia, situated at the foot of the mountains. There we visited Peles Castle which used to belong to the Romanian kings.

On the next day we focused on sports and mathematical activities and created a multi-media presentation summarising our international meeting.

Then our stay came to an end and to sum up, it was a great event for all of us. We had a great time together playing with all the students taking part in the exchange. Students who stayed with Romanian families had the opportunity to get to know the real everyday life of Romanians, their customs, cuisine and culture. We all had the possibility to discover the amazing Romanian culture and historical landmarks and then international teams worked together creating presentations about Romania. The meeting was really well prepared. Our Romanian friends did their best and were hospitable and helpful. They made a great effort to help us to get to know and appreciate the diversity of the Romanian culture, customs, landmarks and traditions. We are looking forward to the next meeting.
