MARCH 2015: TASK 4 - MATHS & ART

  • The fourth task - MATHS & ART - was completed by the groups of students participating in the transnational visit in Sant'Agata Li Battiati, Sicily, Italy in March 2015. While taking part in the school activities and sightseeing tours around the surrounding attractions, students did a few tasks connected with Maths in art.

First, they had to recreate artistic and mathematical designs following the models and instructions given in the PowerPoint presentation, paper cards and teachers' tips:

Then, they were engaged in a painting workshop - they painted shapes and artistic designs on linen. Here are some photos presenting the workshop in which they created their mathematical works of art:

Now the students' works of art are displayed in our schools:

Meanwhile, students also kept looking for examples of mathematical shapes, solids and other aspects, e.g. symmetry, in the Sicilian art. They took photos to document their discoveries and made a PowerPoint presentation:

The Romanian students did a variety of activities related to Maths in art.
