TRANSNATIONAL MEETING IN THE UK - 16 - 20 MAY 2016

  • Our stay in Pendle Community High School started with a warm greeting by the local authorities, teachers and students. We could see a great singing and dancing performance by the students and then exchanged gifts for our students and schools. Also, students from Poland, Italy, Romania and Turkey showed their presentation on the so far completed project tasks.

Then, we went sightseeing around the neighbourhood – we visited a beautiful old town Whalley. Yet, it was not just sightseeing… We were asked to take part in a mathematical treasure hunt – we worked in groups and looked for tips around the town. The game combined Mathematics and historic facts about Whalley. In the end, we could admire the nearby landscape from a river boat and take some cool photos :)

The next day we went to the legendary Liverpool – a city famous for the football club and music band The Beatles. We spent all day sightseeing, buying souvenirs, taking loads of photos and updating our friends on social media... ;)

On Wednesday, 18 May, we went to Belmont and there we tried sailing and made a short cartoon. Our film presented some interesting stories featuring geometrical shapes - in this way we focused on Maths again but had fun at the same time. In the afternoon we went to see another famous English city – Manchester.

Thursday was about gardening… or rather Maths in Levens Hall Gardens as we had to find Maths in the garden area. Some plant arrangements looked out of this world!!!

Finally, we spent our last day in the Pendle school. We had a tour around the school premises, made a summary presentation on the last project task – “Maths and European Life” and had a disco party to say goodbye to one another.

We are very grateful to our English hosts for this wonderful stay :) THANK YOU :)
