Effects of Migration

  • When migrants enter a new country they bring their tradition, their food, their knowledge, their habits and their culture with them. These are mostly more or less different from the culture in the new country. On the one hand this might cause problems with the integration of the migrants or could be the reason of a parallel society with a minimal contact with the majority society, but on the other hand it could also be an enrichment for the culture of the society into which they immigrate.
The effects of emigration are different. As mostly young and highly educated people are emigrating, the country of origin has a big loss of knowledge and working power.
