What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country?

The biggest difference between Germany and Spain is the language and the food. Also another big difference is the weather, Spain has a Mediterranean weather, usually warm and with a lot of sun. Instead in Germany it is not that sunny and it rains or snows quite a lot, there are lower temperatures.

What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

The main idea is that they do lots of parties with friends or with a lot of people. They also because of the weather can go skiing more commonly and also can do different mountain sports. Also there in Germany everything is more expensive because they gain more money than in Spain. That leads German people to be able to do and have more things than Spanish people.

What do you think is better in your country?

The food because it has less fat and it is healthier and also that we take more profit of the beach than in Germany. I also think that the Spanish language has more utility in your life than learning the German language.

What would be an obstacle to move into your host family?

The language because it is so difficult and to change your culture, the way they do things it’s much different.

What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

I think that the main reasons would be work and weather. Because there they earn more money than in Spain and the weather because you may want a bit more of sun and higher temperatures.

According to you, what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

The language, the food and the culture because it is very different from the Spanish one.

    • What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country ?

    • The biggest difference were the timetable and the food. They would eat very early and most of the food had lots of fat. There was also a lot of people that were more introverted and serious than what I am used to in Spain.
    • What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

    • They have more parties and they are allowed to drink beer at 16.
    • What do you think is better in your own country?

    • The food and the weather although when we went there, the weather was good.
    • What would be an obstacle to move into your host country?

    • The language because although I’m learning it, German is really difficult. The beach would also be an obstacle because since I now live very near to it, It would be difficult to forget it. Finally, the food and the weather would be the biggest obstacle because I’m not used to the cold and their food is very different.
    • What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

    • The parties and the beer would be my main reason because in Spain it’s more difficult to get alcohol and the parties are not as big as the ones from Germany.

    • According to you - what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

    • The food, the weather and the people because although there was very good people, some where not as charming as what I’m used to.

What would be nice if I was a refugee and I fled to German an what would be less nice?

When I would fled from my country for a horrible reason I think it would be nice to come in a country like Germany because in this country there can be a lot of opportunities to have a better life. There is a lot of work I could do and it is way more safer than in my own country. The thing that maybe could not so nice is that i would not be respected by everybody because of my origin.

    Dutch Student 2

    - Lidl

    CON‘S
    - Fashion is so dated back , it‘s from all the back  to the stone age.

I liked Germany but some things were very different. I thought that on most aspects Germany was quite the same as the Netherlands, but was I wrong! Perhaps it was because we were in the countryside or perhaps it is truly different, but the food and the overall look on most things is very different. It was a fun experience for the most part, but because we thought so differently upon things we couldn't agree on most things. This was a bummer but it was also interesting to see other people's look on things.

    Dutch Student 5

Why would I go to Germany if I was a refugee?

I wouldn’t go to Germany because I don’t really like it and in other country’s you get more money as a refugee, like the Netherlands there you get a lot of money and the general facilities are also very good. The weather isn’t very nice but I would still go to the Netherlands also because of the good schools.

    Italy

    Italian Student 1

    • What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country?

There are many differences between Italy and Germany. I especially noticed different kind of food, big green areas, but the most important thing is how they respect their city and everything is linked to other people.

    • What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

From my point of view, in Germany, public transport and facilities are in better conditions, in this way they can be completely useful.

    • What do you think is better in your own country?

At first I wasn’t sure about this, but after this experience I think that the Italian school system is better. We have the best education, maybe not about “good manners”, but surely about culture.

    • What would be an obstacle to move into your host country?

First of all, the language because all words are completely different; secondly we have a dissimilar behavior towards other people, so it could be difficult to get used to German life.

    • What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

Reasons could be linked to : job, weather, family and trying new experiences. But Germany wouldn’t be my firt choice, if I had to move abroad.

    • According to you - what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

Integration depends on the person, but generally speaking we could think about : new people, new culture, new habits and different laws. In my case the biggest problem could be the different behavior owing to Germans shyness.

What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

There are no big fences around the houses, no litter on the streets. The people are much friendlier and hospitable in Germany. The building of the school is very modern. I saw much more new cars.

    Hungarian Student 2

    • 1.What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country?

The main differences between Germany and Hungary are mostly consequences of the different economic situations that the two countries are in. For instance, infrastructure and living conditions. Nevertheless, I think there’s a difference as far as the way of life is concerned. In my opinion German people have a healthier lifestyle, and their environmental awareness is better than the average Hungarians’.

2.What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

The infrastructure and most things that are correlated with it. Such as traffic, and its technological resources. Secondly, I consider Germany to be „greener”, and more environmentally friendly than my home country. I saw way more solar panels and wind turbines than in Hungary. Also, in Hungary forests suffer from pollution, because there are people who dump their rubbish into them illegally. According to what I’ve seen, in Germany it’s almost a non-existing phenomenon.

3.What do you think is better in your own country?

Germany was a little bit weird for me, because most things looked like if they had been brand new (due to the more proper maintenance and yet again, the more developed economy). I do not consider this as a negative aspect, but I feel more comfortable in the environment of Hungary. Secondly, although, I really love the German cuisine, I’d never exchange it with the Hungarian one. Finally, I find the Hungarians to be better-humoured.

4.What would be an obstacle to move into your host country?

As for me, the language would be the biggest issue that would prevent me from moving to Germany. I really do not have an eye for it, and I find it way harder to learn than English. Moreover, I’d feel really homesick, and I’m not sure if I could live in a foreign country for a longer period of time. I really love living in Hungary.

5.What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

The much higher wages, the better job-facilities, and the Bavarian culture and landscape.

6.According to you - what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

Simply the issues that occur when somebody has to live elsewhere. New language, new people, new habits, culture, customs and new laws. For children it might be easier, because they adapt to things faster. As for adults, in some cases it can be impossible to integrate.

    • Hungarian Student 4

      1. I think the biggest difference is the living conditions. People earn more and they have a better place to live.

      2. I found Germany more modern. It’s because they are wealthier and the public security is better.

      3. Hungary’s culture is richer and older. It’s more unique and colourful than Germany’s. Their culture is similar to the other western European country’s culture.

      4. The biggest problem to me to move to Germany is that my family and all my friends would live far away from me.

      5. I would move to Germany because of the better conditions and the higher salary.

      6. I had difficulties with the language. German I find a bit difficult.

    • Hungarian Student 5

What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country?

The standard of living is much higher in Germany. The culture and customs are similar, but not the same.  The language is different. The schools are more modern and the education is a bit different.

What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

The salary is higher and the standard of living is better. The railway is more modern and the carriages are cleaner.

What do you think is better in your own country?

I think Hungary is much safer than Germany. I love the Hungarian language.

What would be an obstacle to move into your host country?

I don’t want to move far from my family and my home town. And I need to learn to speak German.

What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

People earn more money I think it could be a reason. Studying or language learning can be a reason too, language knowledge is very important in these days.

According to you - what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

The main difficulties for integration are that: the culture, costumes and religions in other countries are not the same.  You have to learn the language, but German is not very difficult to learn. You don’t know anybody and you haven’t got friends.

    • Hungarian Student 6

What is the biggest difference between your host country and your own country?

Germany is bigger than Hungary. Germany has much more developed economy than Hungary.

What do you think is better in your host country than in your own country?

Germany has much more workplaces to offer than Hungary. Germany has better educational system than Hungary. The quality of Germany’s health care system is way better than Hungary’s.

What do you think is better in your own country?
Our cuisine is way better than Germany’s. Our national anthem is the saddest in the world.

What would be an obstacle to move into your host country?

I am not an adult so I can’t work. I would have nowhere to live.

What would be a reason for you to move to your host country?

I would move because of the better educational system, the better work places and the salaries are much higher as well.

According to you - what are the main difficulties for integration into your host country?

I do not speak the language yet, and it seems to be difficult for me. The cultural and religious differences too.
