Impressions of Netherlands

    Germany

    German Student 1

    1. The people are more connected to each other

    2. Many people use bikes instead of cars

    3. There is more diversity in the landscape

    4. The language, my family is in Germany

    5. There's coastline, the cities are beautiful, friendly people

    6. Strict regulations concerning where you have to be from and why you had to flee for being allowed as a citizen

    1. Holland is all flat

    1.The buildings all are made from Bricks and the landscape is all flat

    2.You can go everywhere by bike and the people are very honest and relaxed

    6.I think the biggest problem is the size of the Netherlands. Its population is not that big so they can't let or don't want people (to) immigrate

     


    Hungary 

    Hungarian Student 1

    1. I think that the most Significant differences between my country and my host country manifest in people"s behaviour, lifestyle, customs/habits and food.

    2. In my opinion, the traffic is better here. Lots of people use bike and they have got electric car. Furthermore, they have less lesson so they have more free time.

    3. I think the weather is better in Hungary. In the Netherlands is unpredictable.

    4.The main barrier for me is the language. I find it very difficult.

    5.The style of the cities and food.

    6.In my opinion, the language is the main problem to integrate to the Netherlands.

     

    Hungarian Student 2

    1. The biggest difference is the food.

    2. I think everything is better except the weather.

    3. I think the weather is better in our own country.

    4. I wouldnt move to Holland because the language is very hard.

    5. I would move to Holland because of the cities. They are nice for shopping.

    6. The main difficulties are the daily habits. Because they differ a lot from Hungary.

     

    Hungarian Student 3

    1. I think the biggest difference is the life quality. In Hungary it is much lower than in the Netherlands.
    2. The traffic is much better because many people use bikes instead of car. And the streets are cleaner than in Hungary.
    3. The terrain is much better because it changes along the way. There are not only plains but mountains and valleys and hills, too.
    4. I think there are no obstacles. I like everything in this country and nothing seems that hard so I could move here easily.
      
    5. I would move here because i like the canals and the beach very much and if I had the money i would buy a house and a boat here.
    6. I think it would take a long time to learn the language and speak it perfectly.

     

    Hungarian Student 4

    1. In my opinion the biggest difference is the style of the life here in the Netherlands.
    2. The school system is better than in Hungary, because schools are more equipped.
    3. I like better the food in Hungary, because there every food is spicy, conflict with dutch cuisine.
    4. For me the biggest obstacle would be the weather. It always changes a lot and it is quite windy all the time.
    5. I would move here because the landscape which i like very much and there is calmness here as well.
    6. I think, that integration here would not be so difficilult, beacuse people here are helpful and receptive.

     

    Hungarian Student 5

    1. What is not the same between the two country, that is the meals. In the Netherlands there are no warm lunch, and they have dinner very early.
    2. What is better in my host country is the quality of the roads. There are no pits (not like in Hungary), and there are roads for bikes everywhere.
    3. I think in Hungary the colorful buildings are better.
    4. I think it would be very hard to learn this language.
    5. I would like to move here because i would be more sporty than i am now.
    6. What would be difficult is getting used to eating very little meat.

     


    Italy

    Italian Student 1

    1. The biggest difference that I have found is the different time Dutch people have their meals.

    2. I have visited the school and we noticed that it is more organized than in Italy.

    3. I think that Italian food is better but I also enjoyed trying local dishes.

    4. An obvious obstacle could certainly be the language barrier. In fact, Dutch is very different from Italian and I find it hard to understand.

    5. A good reason to move here would be the beautiful landscape.

    6. I think that the main difficulties for integration here are the language and the habits.


     

    Italian Student 2

    1.  I was impressed by the fact that cycling is very popular in the Netherlands, whereas everybody normally uses cars in Italy.

    2. I have found that Dutch teenagers have a lot more free time than us, they don't spend their nights studying and they can dedicate more time to their hobbies.

    3.  I like the fact that teenagers go out almost every day in Italy, and the shops are open until 9pm.

    4. If I decided to move to the Netherlands, I would have to get used to cold and windy weather.

    5. A good reason for me to move here woud be the fact that people are very broad-minded, in fact there are a lot of international students.

    6. I believe that the main difficulties a foreigner has to face in the Netherlands cocern the different traditions and lifestyles.

     

    Italian Student 3

    1. I have noticed that they normally live in some suburbs and they only have a school in a town close to them, so they attend that school.

    2. I really like how schools work here, for instance, they study every subject in English, so I found interesting the fact that they speak it also in familiy.

    3. Actually, I prefer living in my country because I can go out whenever I want, just walking to the city center, even though towns are busier than here, but at least I don't have to ask my parents to drive me there.

    4. The biggest obstacle I can think about is the language barrier because I find Dutch really hard to learn, in fact it has a lot of sounds that we don't have in our language.

    5. A reason to move in the Netherlands would be the fact that they speak English very fluently.

    6. I think that moving in my host country  would be difficult because of the different habits. 

     

    Italian Student 4

    1. The biggest difference I have found is that they don't have lunch and they have dinner at 6 p.m. 

    2.I think the road system, for example also cycle lanes, is better than ours.

    3. I think the food is the best in the world.

    4.I think the language barrier and a lot of habits can be an obstacle.

    5. A reason to move to Netherlands would be improve my English or to know new traditions.

    6. I think that the main difficulties would be the differet lifestyle.

    1. The biggest difference I have found is the dinner time.

    Spanish Student 1

    1. The environment and the schedule

    2. Their lifestyle and the level of english

    3. I think that the food is better in Catalonia than in the Netherlands and the weather too.

    4. The schedule and the language, even thought that in the Netherlands the english is very good.

    1. They go to school by bike, it is very important for them the time and to be punctual (in Spain not). The meal times are very different and they go to sleep very early. The country is flat so they use more the bike to go everywhere.

    2. I think that the life is calmer.

    3. The meals are better because you eat more and you have more choices. Also, the weather is good.

    5.There aren’t a lot of cars, so everything it’s calmer. That would be a reason to move to my host country

    1. People here are calmer, which you can realise  it anywhere. Here punctuality is very important and they do daily things earlier than us (meals, go to sleep...) Meals here are also different because in Barcelona we eat between 3 and 5 times per day. The country is pretty flat and that’s why they use a lot the bike.

    Netherlands

    Dutch Student 1

    1. The rides to school, almost every student goes by bus in Germany but in the Netherlands almost everyone goes by bike.

    2. The weather was much nicer when I was there in comparison to the Ntherlands at that time.

    3. The food.

    4. The language barrier. 

    5. The space of living is much larger in Germany, so that would be nice.

    6. It's a very lenghty process nowadays.

     

    Dutch Student 2

    1. The landshape: Holland is really flat and easier to ride a bike, but Spain is very hilly that's why almost everyone went to school by car.

    2. The weather: Spain is warm almost the whole year and in Holland it is or very warm or very cold, there's no inbetween.

    3. The way of traveling, I really like cycling and it's harder in Spain.

    4. The fact that I don't speak Spanish very well.

    5. The houses are more beautiful and the people are very kind.

    6. Those people have to learn another language very quickly, so in the beginning it is hard to communicate.
