Regarding the entry of foreign nationals, the situation since 1975 when the foreign population was almost non-existent, is that of an increase at a rate of 8,000 a year, an accumulation of illegal aliens and a first wave of regularization in 10 years later.

In 1976 Spain embarked on a path of democratization and decentralization, Welfare State expansion, and rising economic openness. New labor institutions were established in the Workers’ Statute.
Due to political instability, there was little policy response to the two oil price shocks until the early 1980s. And there was a large wage push, as unions competed to get established, ended in 1977 by the first of a series of social pacts which prevailed until 1986. The first half of the 1980s saw a strong wave of industrial restructuring.
Monetary policy was lax until 1977 and then restrictive: the real long-term interest rate went from bringing gross public debt to 50% of GDP by 1986

People came to Spain thanks to the end of the Franco dictatorship
