IMMIGRATION WAVES IN SPAIN
The historical background:
The reason of immigration in Spain between 1996-2005 is mainly the desire of a better life. Thanks to immigration, Spain registered the largest increase (15%) of population between these years. Most of the immigrants were from Morocco and South America.
Effects of this immigration wave:
Due to the rise of population, the workforce incremented. Immigrants were working for the minimum wage in order to be able to return to their native countries and have a better life there with the money they had made in Spain.
It firstly caused an increment in Spain's economy, because of the need for immigrants to be nourished, have a place to live... But as we said, immigrants came here to make money and save it to go back to their native countries and spend their money there. This fact caused a decrement in the country's economy.
Reasons for immigration into Spain:
- The Weather: the weather is perfect almost all the year. Whit out a lot of rainy days and a lot of sun days.
- It's perfect for that people who wish to scape the cold and rainy weather.
- The quality of live: in Spain day to day living is much easier than in other countries.
- Money: here we had a more stable economic system.
- Superior healthcare: in other countries the healthcare was limited, but in Spain our healthcare system was better.
Reasons for emigrating from their home country:
- Wars: in other countries, there are a lot of wars, so people decide to emigrate from their home country.
For example, the Napalese Civil War. This war was an armed conflict against The Government of Nepal (1996 to 2006)
- Work: in other countries there is not work for all, so many people decide to emigrate to another country.
- The quality of life: in other places people live bad because of the resources or the money they can get so they don't live in a good place, with good things...
- The Weather: his fact is important because there are a lot of places that it's almost all the day raining.
For example: there were a lot of snows during 1996 and 2005.
- Violence: in that period of time there were a lot of countries with domestic, woman violence..., so that is a very important reason to escape to another country.
- Superior Healthcare: in a lot of countries there was a limited healthcare so many people in a bad situation were not taking care.
- Money: in other countries there was a bad economic system
