Today was the last day of training. Throughout this week, we addressed the theme of Positive Psychology in its various aspects. And yes, in our schools it is possible to have happier teachers. And happier teachers get better students.
When teachers and students build a good relationship in the classroom, learning becomes more efficient and there is greater motivation and commitment on both sides.
During the learning moment, all parties involved exchange experiences, information and knowledge. As such, the dynamic flows best when you cultivate a positive relationship.
Martin Seligman, one of the founders of the PERMA Positive Psychology Method, Five Key Elements of Psychological Well-Being and Happiness:
P - Positive Emotion
E - Engagement
R - Positive Relationships
M - Meaning
A - Accomplishments/Achievements
Seligman believes these five elements can help people work towards personal fulfillment and happiness.
Knowing and understanding the PERMA model can help us to be happier teachers. Integrating this model into everyday life and making the most of it is the next challenge.
