We are in the middle of this exciting and precious learning process and, in this session, we focused on the importance of communication in interpersonal relationships.
Among many other aspects, we focused especially on the fact that the pandemic situation we are [still] going through, shows us how much the future is a set of uncertainties and that we only have the present moment as “guaranteed”. It may seem commonplace, but perhaps a large part of us has not yet reflected on this reality and how it will shape the future [especially] of younger generations. And today, when we carry out this reflection, we realize the preponderant role that interpersonal communication plays in not extracting new personalities, in the formation of requirements, in personal performance and in the internal life of associations.
Among the various types of communication (passive, aggressive,…) it is easy to see that assertive communication is the most adjusted to the organizational reality in which we, teachers, are inserted. Assertive communicators are able to clearly convey their opinions and feelings with the perfect sense of healthy boundaries around what can and cannot be done, what is or is not right. Assertive communicators are still perfectly aware of their emotional, physical, and relational needs and are healthily related in others. They feel competent, secure and genuinely independent.
How fundamental is assertive communication in interpersonal relationships!!”
