"Meeting our cultural heritage creatively"

(2nd short term exchange of students, 1st -5th of April 2019 - Wilhelmshaven / Bremen)

Main topic of the second students exchange was to work on the texts of the second Webquest of our project ("Being young in Europe" with the sub topics "position of young women", "study sciences"and "growing by dancing") in a creative way.

This time, 20 students from Portogruaro were welcomed by their German partners for one week.

  The students had already finished some introductory tasks for this module together on the TwinSpace. They also had translated and analysed Latin texts. Now we wanted to create some products together on Latin texts from different parts of Europe: a choreography on the musical setting of a medieval Latin poem from Southern Germany, two escape rooms on Latin texts from France and England.

  Each exchange meeting, however, contained also an approach to culture of the region of the hosting partners. The task of the second meeting was to sketch.

  We had the chance to do so durig educational trips to Bremen, visiting exhibitions of the work of two interesting female artists: painter Paula Modersohn-Becker and photographer Eva Besnyö. In this way, we intensified our work on the -> WebQuest "Position of young women in Europe".

  But we also got an impression of Wilhelmshaven as, especially compared to Portogruaro, quite a young town, founded as a garnison town at the shore of the Wadden sea. For this, we went to the and the "Deutsches Marinemuseum", the museum of the navy, and the "Unesco Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer Besucherzentrum" (visitor centre of the Unesco world nature heritage wadden sea"). Thanks to Pliny the Elder we could also use a Latin text as a starting base there :)
