Introduction
In the second half of the 13th century, a young man from Venice travels through Asia along the silk road until he reaches China, India, Birma,Japan and Java. His name: Marco Polo. He is from a family of merchants and accompagnies his father Niccolò and uncle Maffeo on a commercial journey. He is 17 years old when he leaves Italy and stays away for about two and a half decades. As he is very interested in all the foreign people(s) and unknown cultures he meets he keeps his experiences in mind in order to hand them down to future generations. "Il Milione" is the name of the book which collects Marco Polo's memories.
Your task
(1) Create a google map with the most important stops of Marco Polo. Write down some information about time and purpose of Marco Polo's mission at each place.
(2) Create an "Actionbound" which helps other students to gain extensive knowledge of Marco Polo's time and the cultural inventions that came to Europe due to the commerce with other cultures. - For this, you can start informing yourself by using the following links. However, you should also find other serious sources - both from printed books and the internet - by own research.
