Meeting our cultural heritage creatively...

... was the motto of this second project week of our Erasmus+ project From Latin text to European context .

Before the meeting, the students of both schools had worked on the WebQuest n2.

Now, they transformed three of the texts which they had translated and analyzed into new products.

"O fortuna" (from "Carmina Burana")

The poem "O fortuna" from the collection of poems "Carmina Burana" became a choreography, thanks to Carl Orff's music. The students had discussed the role of "fortuna" in this Latin text - and brought Fortuna and its "victims" onto stage.

The German-Italian group of "choreographers" presented their result on the last evening of the meeting. After the presentation they explained the way they interpreted the text "by dancing":

Héloise and Abelard (from Abaelardus' "Historia calamitatum")

The intense and tragic love between Abelard and his young female student Héloise as described by Abelard himself: the text which they had translated and analyzed inspired an Italian-German group of students to make up the plot for an escape room.

Preparation:

an old library: a room with a door and a window, a writing desk in the middle, a chair behind the desk; some parchments with Latin inscriptions on them - on the desk and shelves and one on the chair itself (or, even better, an embroidered cushions with Latin words on the chair)

beginning: the door is closed and locked; you hear (CD-Player) a dialogue - the voice of a man and a young woman (English or Latin)

the role: the players take on the role of Héloise, shortly after her uncle Fulbert has detected her love affair with her private tutor, the philosopher Abelard
