Cultural approach: photo exhibition

  • "Our very own view - approaching our cultural heritage"

This was the title for a photo exhibition that was prepared collaboratively by the Erasmus students from both schools during the first students meeting.

The exhibition was prepared in local photo workshops before and during the meeting and shown in both partner schools in spring 2019.

The TASK was to find a personal, unusual perspective: to show cultural heritage of antiquity (s a base of European culture) and of our partner region in Northern Italy in an individual way of perception and, if possible, a subjective way of camera work instead of the usual "picture postcard perspective".

We used mobile phones, single lens reflex cameras and pinhole cameras (self made from old tins that once contained ground coffee). By this, we tried to find out how the atmosphere and the message behind the picture changes according to the kind of camera that was used.

During the meeting, the students worked in Italian-German pairs: They learned to use ICT programmes (like photo shop) to sharpen the atmosphere or message of their pictures.

On the following sub pages of this page you can find some results:

-> working with colours to create atmosphere and feelings

-> working with lines to show structures and connection (also personal connections and approaches)

-> working with motion to show overwhelming impressions and fugacity of time

-> catching a moment that asks to imagine the story behind the motive

-> creating an retrospective atmosphere of times passed by

-> immersing in the past by smuggling ourselves into groups of ancient faces (statues, portraits)

The exhibition in our school buildings is shown in the section "dissemination".
