Johannes Tinctoris Complexus effectuum musices

  •

One of Johannes Tinctoris' short treatises is the Complexus effectuum musices, released in 1473-74, during the period in which the Flemish theorist arrived in Naples, in service of Ferdinand I of Aragon, as pedagogue of princess Beatrice, the king’s daughter.
In the dedication of the treatise, Johannes presents to her the comprehensive list of the twenty effects produced by the art of sounds.
His reflections transfer the consideration of music from an abstract or scientific speculation to human psychology, moral suggestion, practical functionality, aesthetics.
