Introduction
"Calm, harmony and dignity" as main values of architecture...
In the 16th century, an architect from the Veneto studied the theory of architecture written down by the ancient Roman architect Vitruv. His name: Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, called: Andrea Palladio. He also studied the ruins of the ancient buildings and the philosophy of Plato and other ancient authors who were rediscovered in the Renaissance. Palladio himself, however, was also rediscovered - for example by the American president Thomas Jefferson who admired Palladio. Thus, Palladio also got an important influence on the architecture of the centre of power of the USA in Washington.
But what does the architecture of Palladio look like? - Let's have a look!
"The top architect of Venice" - a short 5-minutes-introduction:
and the trailer of the movie "Palladio" (seen through the eyes of modern architects):
Your task
(1) Create a google map with at least 10 important, but different buildings (churches, villas, theatre,...) from Andrea Palladio. Write down some information about each building and - if possible - the philosophical influence which made Palladio create an architecture like this.
(2) Create an "Actionbound" which helps other students to gain extensive knowledge of Andrea Palladio's time and the architectural philosophy that connects ancient Roman ideas with the power of the Capitol in Washington. - For this, you can start informing yourself by using the following links. However, you should also find other serious sources - both from printed books and the internet - by own research.
Your login to "actionbound" is: https://actionbound.com/signin/Erasmus2019 .
(3) Create a page here on the TwinSpace where you put down some information about Andrea Palladio and his time (starting with your google map) which the player of your "Actionbound" can use to prepare themselves for the game you created for them.
