Europe day 2019 - Evviva L'Europa!

  • On May 9th 2019, Europe day was celebrated in Portogruaro with the public event entitled "Evviva l'Europa!" ("Long live Europe!"), promoted by more than twenty local cultural associations with the patronage of the Municipality of Portogruaro.

                                                   

    In the square facing the medieval Town Hall, perfomed several music ensemble and choirs, among which the St. James Choir, composed of young African refugees.

    A group of Italian students took part in the event as representatives of the "Erasmus generation".

    The spokeswoman, Margherita Mio, addressed the participants by summarizing the contents of the project and underlining its values of knowledge, cultural exchange and enhancement of the common roots of the European culture.

         

    To further celebrate the meeting of cultures, a group of young African refugees gave the Erasmus+ students a hand-sewn European flag made using original fabrics from Africa.
