  • At 8 o'clock in the morning we met at the school entrance and after a bus ride we arrived at Berchtensgaden, a mountain village in the south of Bavaria with a very nice old town centre.

The village is also home to a very famous Bavarian salt mine. But before going to the salt mine, we paid a visit to the near lake Koenigssee, where we had our lunch and took some beautiful pictures.

After lunch, we visited the famous and very old salt mine called "Salzbergwerk".

To enter the mine we had to wear special mine overalls (a bit visible in the picture) and take a train with an open roof ... the ride through the narrow tunnel was quite impressive and also teachers had a lot of fun!

The tour included some stops with guides telling us about the history of the salt mine, together with a short movie about the extraction of salt and a visit to the "Salt Cathedral".

But the most thrilling experience was the "slide" for nearly 34 meters down ... it's a pity we don't have a photo to attach here because you can't take photos inside the mine.

At three pm we were back to school. But our German friends had another surprise for our students: the Carneval party organised by the students representatives of Stephanskirchen school... our pupils enjoyed a lot!!
