Early in the morning the group of the Italian little ones paid a visit to the German Primary school, which is next to the Secondary School.
Here they brought some posters about our region Emilia-Romagna as a gift from our school, and also some drawings and letters in response to the ones they were given in October. All materials had been created by the pupils of San Nicolò Primary School. Well done!!
The classrooms are bright, spacious, colourful and lively… there are a lot of boxes, bookcases, boards and teaching tools to use in the everyday school life.
In one class, we enjoyed the presentation of Italy by a group of German pupils during a Geography lesson. They prepared a poster, and gave information about the most important towns and historic buildings of our country. Applause!!
After the break, the students split into groups focusing the lesson on the use of the simple past, exercising with the English experts and with Ms Martina Ludsteck.
Then, we all went to the gym for a lesson on the typical Bavarian folk dance. First of all, Ms Simona Landendinger explained us, in a very clear and effective way, a brief history of such dance and its main characteristics. After that, some German students, members of traditional Bavarian clubs, showed us the “Bayerischer Schuhplattler” (= Bavarian dance) and the “Dirndldrahn” (= the turning of the girl), which is a love dance between a couple, where the men show off and try to impress the girl. The men smash their hands on their shoes and the girls turn rapidly around making their skirts “fly”.
Our students had the opportunity to learn how to perform the dance….. they laughed a lot, but they also had a great time!! Thanks Simona and thanks to your students. They were wonderful.
